Do you want to become a member of the VHIA? We would welcome your
application. However, membership in the VHIA is restricted, so please
read the following to see if you qualify. There are three types of
membership.
ACTIVE
MEMBER:
Any person who is a member of any Town, Municipal, County, State, Federal,
or National law enforcement agency. Further qualifications shall be that
the applicant is a salaried full-time employee of such agency and is
assigned to duties that include the responsibility of investigating
homicides. Annual dues are $25.00 per year.
Exceptions: By approval of the Board of
Directors, a member or applicant may be classified as
“active” who has :
Been transferred or
promoted within his or her organization to a non-homicide investigative
assignment.
Is honorably
retired from law enforcement service, providing such member or applicant
had at least a two-year assignment that included homicide investigation.
ASSOCIATE
MEMBER:
Any person not eligible for active membership but is qualified by
training or experience in police or other law enforcement activities, or
by other professional attainments in police science or administration
shall be, upon approval of the Board of Directors, eligible for
membership as an “Associate”. Annual dues are $25.00 per year.
CHARTER
MEMBERSHIP: Charter Membership, as an Active Member or Associate Member, is
open to those qualified persons who pay an additional $50.00 (in addition
to the first years dues of $25.00, for a total of $75.00), when they
submit their membership application.
Note: The $50.00 Charter
Membership fee is payable only for the first year of membership. Each
year thereafter the Charter member only pays the regular annual dues of
$25.00.

to obtain an application form that you can print out and mail in. Please
fill out the application completely and mail it with your check to the
address noted on the application form. Shortly thereafter, you will
receive your membership card and membership certificate suitable for framing.
Once you are a member you will be added to our membership roster and
receive advance notice of upcoming seminars, events, and the VHIA
Newsletter. You will also receive a copy of the VHIA membership roster.
